Biote Hormone Replacement Therapy

What is Biote Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement pellet therapy is a personalized approach to hormone replacement. It allows a patient’s body to absorb the right level of hormones at the right time using a delivery method the body can process efficiently.

Pellets are small capsules (about the size of a grain of rice) that contain bio-identical hormones like testosterone or estrogen. A bio-identical hormone is the exact molecular structure of hormones the body produces naturally.

They are inserted under the skin, where hormones enter the bloodstream as they dissolve over several months. Our studies show that patients may see the effects of hormone optimization up to four weeks after a pellet insertion. Everyone is unique and some people may feel the effects immediately, while others may take up to two or more pellet insertions before they feel full effects.

Hormones delivered by pellet therapy bypass the liver, do not affect clotting factors, do not increase the risk of thrombosis, and avoid the fluctuations of hormone levels some patients may experience. Biote bio-identical hormone pellets are made from soy or the yam plant to create estradiol and/or testosterone molecules, unlike synthetic hormones, which are made from animal parts or urine and have a different molecular structure than what the body produces.

Hormone Imbalance in Women

Hormone imbalance in women can occur as part of the aging process and may reflect genetic predispositions for certain conditions. However, hormone balance or imbalance can also be affected by the foods we eat, the exercise we get, and the amount of stress we experience.

When a hormonal imbalance in a woman’s endocrine system occurs, it can cause a variety of problems. The endocrine system is a series of glands that produce and disseminate hormones throughout the body. A woman’s hormones do much more than just regulate mood and sexuality—they can determine whether an individual may be at risk for elevated blood sugar, decreased bone density, and thyroid problems.

Signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalance in women may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Irritability, anxiousness, mood swings, low mood
  • Night sweats, hot flashes or flushes
  • Weight gain
  • Decreased sex drive, discomfort during intercourse
  • Heavy, irregular, or uncomfortable periods
  • Vaginal dryness, breast tenderness

Hormone Imbalance in Men

Hormonal imbalances may occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream. Because of their essential role in the body, even the smallest hormonal imbalance can cause side effects throughout the body. Too much or too little of a hormone can have effects on the body, ranging from moderate to severe.

Signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalance in men may include:

  • Low sex drive
  • Increased in body fat (especially in the waist area), loss of muscle mass and strength
  • Reduced mental focus
  • Feelings of anxiety, irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Elevated blood sugar, high cholesterol, low blood pressure

Get Started

Schedule a consultation with Amber Anderson or Chantal Crosse-Sumlin, our board-certified nurse practitioners who are Biote Certified Providers for hormone replacement. Next, we can schedule you with an in-spa lab draw for a comprehensive baseline hormone panel. Based on a thorough consultation and extensive lab work, our providers will determine candidacy for the Biote Method. Patients will schedule a quick follow-up appointment to review their results and, when appropriate, for pellet therapy insertion.

During pellet therapy, pellets are inserted subcutaneously into the body in a quick, simple, in-office procedure. These pellets will gradually be absorbed, dispersing hormones throughout the body. Hormone replacement patients receive as few as two bio-identical hormone pellet insertions per year. The hormone is available when their bodies need it, and it’s a simple procedure done right in the provider’s office.
